Fescue Lawn Care Services

TruGreen can aerate and overseed fescue in Spring or Fall. This is recommended annually until your fescue lawn is thick. Call our office or contact us "here" to arrange for aeration and overseeding . This service is not included in the regular program.

Early Spring Application

Feb		 A pre-emergent herbicide is applied to help prevent germination of summer grassy weeds such as crabgrass. Stay off lawn until dry. Read comments and suggestions left by the lawn technician. The benefit is long-term, and the customer won't notice immediate changes Germination of summer grassy weeds such as crabgrass will be reduced.
Round 2
Spring Application

Mar		 We apply fertilizer and a post-emergent herbicide to any visible weeds. Stay off lawn until dry. Read comments and suggestions left by the lawn technician. Turf should become visibly greener. Weeds should curl and turn brown after about 10 - 14 days. Turf density and vigor is improved. A dense healthy turf will discourage weeds and crabgrass. Visible weeds should be reduced within 2 weeks.
Round 3**
Early Fall

Sept		 We apply fertilizer and a second post-emergent herbicide to help prevent germination of broadleaf. A a post-emergent herbicide is applied to any visible weeds. Stay off lawn until dry. Read comments and suggestions left by the lawn technician. Turf should become visibly greener. Weeds should curl and turn brown after about 10 - 14 days. Turf density and vigor is improved. A dense healthy turf will discourage weeds and crabgrass.
Round 4
Fall Application

Oct		 We apply lime and spot treat for weeds. Stay off lawn until dry. Read comments and suggestions left by the lawn technician. No visible short-term effect from the lime. Weeds should curl and turn brown after about 10 - 14 days. The PH of the soil is increased, allowing the lawn to better utilize available nutrients and increase response to fertilizer.
Round 5
Winter Application

November		 We apply fertilizer and a post-emergent herbicide to any visible weeds. Stay off lawn until dry. Read comments and suggestions left by the lawn technician. Turf should become visibly greener. Weeds should curl and turn brown after about 10 - 14 days. Turf density and vigor is improved. A dense healthy turf will discourage weeds and crabgrass.

    Fescue Hints
  • Fescue lawns should be mowed no shorter than 4".
  • Fescue lawns must be kept clean of leaves and deris so the seedings can grow.
